“Let’s see” I thought… It’s time we tell the truth about advertising and internet marketing. People keep asking me about this, so I decided to tell it like it is and not like it twas. This is going to be a rant, grab a cup of coffee sit back and enjoy the ride.

Everyone has a “Belief System” If you look up the definition of the word, it’s this: “Something that you believe in, but you have no proof”

One day a husband was in the kitchen getting ready to cook a ham, and his wife saw him. He took the ham, and was putting it in the roasting pan, she stop him. She explained to him that he was doing it wrong. He asked why. She replied that you have to clip the ends off. He didn’t understand, but did it anyway.

Later, while the ham was cooking he called his wife’s mother, and asked her if she taught her to cook the ham that way, and she said yes. He asked why. She said because her mother taught her the same way.  On with his little project, he called the grandmother, and asked the same question. You won’t believe the grandmother’s reply.

She said heavens no, I didn’t “she must have been watching me was her response” stops him cold in his tracks. He asked her to explain, and she did.  She said, while cooking a ham back in old days she didn’t have a pan big enough for the ham to *fit* in. So, she clipped off the *edges* allowing it to fit in her little pot, so she could feed her family.

To explain a bit further, if you are trying to run a small business online without a marketing department I’m sure you have heard of “AIDA” (Attention, Interest, Desire, Action)

“When you know better, you do better.” So, let’s break it down for you (hint, hint)

Get the visitors ATTENTION
Capture or create INTEREST on the part of the visitors
Build the interest of the visitors into a strong DESIRE
Get the visitor to take ACTION on that desire

Without a doubt, it looks simple enough right? Well it doesn’t tell the whole story. The key here is visitors. If someone is on your web site you already have their attention. The only way you can screw that up is to lose it with dumb stuff.

AIDA was create years ago for people like my grandmother would sit at home and read her mail every day and filled out forms and order stuff through the mail. As a kid, when I would visit my grandparents in the summer the mail carrier would come twice a day. (Sorry ladies no disrespect intended, don’t remember seeing in females during that kind of work when I was little boy)

I think, the concept is deeply flawed because it’s based on large chunks of sales pitches. As a result, you have the idea that 1% or 2% conversion rate is acceptable for products and services online.

Hmmm . . . The idea that you must get someone attention before you create interest just don’t sit well with me. I have found it not to be affective. (Affective means to move forward without feeling)

Trying to create interest among another person leads to all sorts of pushy and manipulative tactics. Desire is not enough to get them to buy your products or sign-up for your services.

Don’t stress, I’m not going to leave you hanging. We teach a different concept. That is, strive for a 10% conversion rate. How you might ask? (Sorry, that is for our subscribers)

Follow our model, and you’ll know hold to be affective through the whole process much like sticking an arrow in an “aardvark ass” to get them to move forward without any feelings.

How To Write a Great Comment on Blogs

A comment on a blog is a new form of web content, and as many people who get comments will tell you, some are great and some are not so great. People have different reasons for writing blog comments.

What’s yours? Are you trying to get the attention of an influential blogger? Drive traffic to your own blog? Establish yourself as an expert on a topic? Do you appreciate the person’s work and want to say thanks or brighten his or her day?

Do you disagree so strongly with what you’re viewing or reading that you simply can’t let it stand without a rebuttal? Sometimes, understanding your motivation will help you decide what kind of comment to write.

I really wonder how many people think about what is being said above. As far as I am concerned only that person should comment on a blog who actually thinks he or she has derived some knowledge from the blog post.

Something which they didn’t know before reading the blog post, or may be a point which they don’t agree with and might won’t to discuss with the author. Comments should always be discussion starters.

Watch the video it’s called “Yo Comments are Whack,” and it’s worth the time.

"Buy Me a Beer"

We are all looking for ways to help us complete the things that we need to do in the shortest time possible so that we can have additional time  for ourselves. This can get us into trouble if doing things fast means that mistakes are made.

When this happens we spend additional time correcting mistakes. This can create a vicious cycle. There are times when we simply need to slow things down.

One of the best things that we can do to help ourselves is to become more organized, that can help us manage our time better.

There are many benefits of time management. We can be more productive as well as more efficient.

When we are more efficient we save time and money.

Other benefits of time management involve helping your business make more profits.

I think all of us release the benefits of time management, but implementing the skills may be something new to us. I have found that lists work well for me. When I make lists at the beginning of each day I find I am more apt to get the things done that are needed.

My routine each morning is to write down the things that I would like to as well as need to accomplish that day.

I then prioritize the list in order of what is most important to accomplish. Once this is done I look at any related tasks that can be done in conjunction with each other. This way I am away from my computer for one period of time thus cutting down on the amount of running around I need to do, multiple trips uses up time.

Once my list is written and prioritized I begin with the top item and start working my way down. If I am on a tight schedule I limit the number of interruptions by putting my calls through to voice mail to answer later and also shut my door.

Whatever is not completed on my list by the end of the day gets added to the list for the next day. Some of these techniques may seem rigid, however the benefits of this time management pay off by getting things done and creating more time by the end of the week. Since I have been doing my work following these methods I find that I often spend more time with family and hobbies.
